If you give your microfibre cleaning products proper care, they are a truly excellent investment into your facilities hygiene and cleanliness. They cost more than those old school, traditional cleaning supplies, but they are worth it because they have many terrific benefits. Microfibre provides superior cleaning results and makes it possible to clean with less water and chemical.

The durability of microfibre cleaning products depend upon two primary factors: First, the quality of the microfibre; and, secondly, the care and use it receives. In normal use and care conditions, good quality microfibre products can be laundered as many as 500 times. The microfibre tends to remain effective even long after the material itself beings falling apart. The two important factors to remember, in the care of this excellent cleaning fabric, are:

1. Do not use fabric softener or bleach when laundering microfibre.

2. Do not use a high-heat dryer for drying microfibre. Air drying is best.

Do’s of laundering microfibre

Microfibre is a superior cleaning product, and it’s worth the additional cost over and above traditional wiping rags and mops. It’s always smart to protect investments. Microfibre is very durable, when properly cared for. The following are some tips on how to properly launder microfibre floor mops and microfibre cloths:

• Use a mild laundry detergent. The pH level should be below 11.

• Wash in warm to hot water.

• Be sure the fibres are thoroughly rinsed.

• Wash microfibre with other microfibre products only. If you’re colour coding your microfibre cloths and mops wash colours separately for better cross contamination protection.

• If at all possible, air dry microfibre. It will last longer if you do this. When a dryer is used, the setting should be on the lowest temperature possible.

• You don’t have to dry all microfibre after laundering. You can leave the mops damp, seal them in a bucket or bag, and, if necessary, add chemical. The mops are then ready for use.

Don’ts of laundering microfibre

The following are tips on what not to do when laundering microfibre cloths and mops:

• Do not use bleaches, chlorine, or other products that contain bleach.

• Do not use products which contain conditioning or softening agents, such as fabric softeners. The softening agents clog up the crevices in the cloth. In addition, softeners reduce and potentially eliminate the static charge that makes microfibre so effective in dry use applications.

• The washing temperature should not be above 90 degrees Celsius.

• Do not dry microfibre in temperatures above 60 degrees Celsius.

• Do not wash microfibre with items prone to linting. Doing so will make the cleaning process ineffective.

• Do not iron microfibre.

• Do not store the cloths and mops in humid or warm areas.

Basic Usage Instructions

Avoid harsh chemicals when using microfibre. Dampen microfibre cloths and microfibre mops before using them but without over-wetting them. If too much water or chemical is used, the cleaning performance is diminished because there capacity to hold soils becomes limited.

The care instructions for microfibre are easy to follow and make it possible for your investment to give you many happy returns.
