1. Built-in active oxygen technology
Inside the bin lid is a smart little ozone generator. Yep, the 4 x AA batteries not only open and close the lid, but also run the ozone generator! When the voltage reaches a certain level, the oxygen molecules in the air are ionized to form ozone molecules. Ozone molecules float inside the bin, blending into and breaking down odours and germs. Shortly after being generated and doing their job, they turn back into oxygen.
Ozone is generated inside the bin for 3 minutes every 5 hours.
2. Add Sanifresh odour granules
Sanifresh hygiene bin odour granules solve and prevent odour problems. Sanifresh granules are sprinkled into the bin liner when you replace the bag. These granules have a 3-way action where they can absorb liquid, remove odours and sanitise the space. They are inexpensive, easy, effective, and will not only keep your bins smelling great but also the cubicle they are located in.

How to service a feminine sanitary hygiene bin
1. Ensure you are wearing gloves and PPE. Blood and bodily fluids may need to be cleaned up. Be careful of sharps.
2. Remove the bin lid and pull out the plastic bin liner. Tie it off and place it in a lined rubbish bin container or trolley waste receptacle. Always use caution when removing any bin liner in a toilet facility. They can contain sharp objects including needles. Don’t allow the bin liner to brush your skin or body. Don’t try to compress the bin liners in the bin even if you have gloves on.
3. Check the inside of the bin for possible leaks and contaminants and wipe them off with Disso® Wipes. Focus on the lid and other possible touch points.
4. Fit a new bin liner bag ensuring it completely covers the inside surface of the sanitary bin. There is a bag ring that allows you to keep the plastic bag inside the bin so that the bin presents nice and clean and tidy. Sprinkle some Sanifresh Bin Granules into the liner.
5. Replace the lid and wipe the lid and any other possible touch points with Disso® Wipes.
One of the best ways to reduce your facility’s cleaning costs is to service sanitary bins yourself. What? Can you do that? Yes, you absolutely can. More facilities than ever are now doing exactly that and it’s no more difficult than changing any other bin liner. Sanitary waste is suitable for general landfill in almost all parts of Australia and is not classified as clinical waste. Excellent return on investment
There is an initial investment in buying your own bins but most businesses get their money back within 3 to 9 months and start to significantly save from then on in. Your payback time largely depends on 2 things... Firstly how many bins you have in service and secondly whether you decide to use a manual or touch-free sanitary bin system.
Contracting this service to a hygiene service company is expensive and usually there are long contracts involved too. So if the service level is not up to standard, it can difficult for you to change and get things up to your standards again.
Doing this service yourself makes a lot of sense because you already have people servicing your washrooms every day. Utilising existing staff is smart and means labour costs won’t change. Remember it’s just a single bag replacement once a fortnight or once a month, so you won’t have to employ anyone new. There is an enormous number of sanitary bins in busy facilities that should be serviced more often than they are.
