Specifications for Hitman - Heavy Duty Solvent Based Floor Stripper for Solvent-Based Sealer Removal
I’ll take out the floor sealer.
Hitman is a super heavy-duty solvent-based floor stripper for removing solvent-based coatings. The formula is based on a special blend of low-odour solvents combined with a unique activating agent. This stuff can strip almost anything!
Where to use
Hitman was developed for hard surface floor professionals to quickly and effectively remove water and solvent-based sealers and coatings from various types of indoor and outdoor floor surfaces including pavers, concrete, slate, sandstone, terrazzo, marble, limestone, travertine, quarry, terracotta and granite. In some cases, it is even effective for removing epoxy coatings.
Where not to use
Hitman is not suitable for use on aluminium, plastic, laminate, vinyl, linoleum, asphalt tile, rubber tile, floor sealer and painted surfaces.
The benefits
• Low odour. No unpleasant solvent fumes during and after treatment.
• One product does all. Works on almost all surfaces and sealer types.
• Fast acting superior performance.
• Easy to rinse. Requires simple water rinse only.
• Removes sealers, coatings, polishes, waxes and paints.
• Australian-made and owned.
Hitman is ready to use. Do not dilute.
1. Your safety comes first. Wear personal protection equipment.
2. Prepare equipment. Add floor stripper to a bucket. Half-fill a second wringer bucket with water. Move your equipment to the work area.
3. Prepare the area. Select an area of 5-10m² and section it off. Remove furniture and protect the area. Set up safety signs, barricades and/or safety tape. Remove gum and foreign matter from the floor surface with a scraper if necessary.
4. Always test the floor stripper first in an inconspicuous area before using it.
5. Apply a thin layer of water to the surface via a mop or brush. Wetting the surface helps with the next step. It allows for easier spreading and application of the Hitman.
6. Apply stripping solution. Generously spread the undiluted stripping solution over a dry surface with a mop, brush or roller. Allow the solution to work on the floor for at least 10-30 minutes. Do not allow the stripper to dry.
7. Machine scrub. Place a heavy-duty floor stripping pad or a suitable abrasive stripping brush under a slow-speed rotary floor scrubbing machine. Use overlapping strokes.
8. Pick up stripper and slurry. Use a wet pickup vacuum to remove the stripper solution from the floor. Do not allow the dirty solution to dry on the floor. You can add more water and/or stripper if you notice it is drying up before you are ready to remove it.
9. Neutralise, rinse and dry the floor. Rinse at least twice to be sure. Use a clean mop and clean water with Bobby Dazzler (80:1). Cover the area liberally by slop mopping. Leave for 5 minutes. Pick up the solution with a wet pickup vac.
10. Final rinse mop. Damp mop the floor with clean water for the final rinse and to ensure that all stripper solution has been removed.
11. Repeat the process if necessary when any residues or further coats of sealer are still present.
Handy tips
• Always test first in an inconspicuous area before using any cleaning solution. Play it safe, especially when you use a product for the first time. Better to be safe than sorry. Some surfaces can be sensitive to moisture and particular chemical types.
• Many hard surface professionals prefer to wet down the surface to be stripped with water before applying Hitman undiluted. And then add more water after scrubbing to thin out the solution for easier recovery.
• In most cases Hitman will strip 2-3 coats at a time. In some cases, the stripping process will need to be repeated multiple times as some floors have had 10+ coats applied to them over the years!
• Take care! The stripping process can make the floor very slippery. Wear appropriate footwear and wipe your feet before walking on other floor areas. Work in a controlled area to avoid walking in the wet area.
• Do not attempt to strip the entire floor in one hit. Strip approximately 5-10m² at a time. Also be sure not to get any stripping solution on painted surfaces, stainless steel or carpets. Always protect the area you are working in.
• Use the Heavy Duty Black or High-Performance Stripping doodlebug pad to detail strip along the edges, on stairs and in the corners of the room.
• Mopping is not recommended for removing the stripping solution from the floor as it tends to be very time-consuming and ineffective at removing 100% of the stripper and sealer slurry left after stripping. After removing the stripping solution with a wet vac, a mop is fine to use as part of your neutralising and rinsing stage.
• It is recommended to use new mops each time. All other equipment should be washed or wiped down and stored in the proper location. Using items and tools that are disposable for the stripping process is preferred as they eliminate the chance of contamination.
