4. Apply the diluted solution to the area and/or equipment to be sanitised (e.g. bench, floor, tub, cutting board, freezer, plate, bowl, utensil, equipment) using a cloth, spray bottle, bucket, dipping tub or spraying system.

Handy hints
• For best results, use freshly diluted solutions. The shelf life of diluted Protect is 1 month and an unopened drum is 2 years.
• When manually filling bottles, buckets or tanks, add the water first and chemical last to prevent foaming and splashes.
• The correct dilution rate for Protect when needing it to perform as a Commercial Grade Disinfectant is 50:1 (50 parts water to 1 part Protect). That's 20ml of Protect per 1L of water.
What are the Quaternary Ammonium Compound (QUAT) levels on Protect?
At a dilution rate of 250:1 XO2® Protect will achieve approximately 200ppm of Quaternary Ammonium Compound. Dilutions of up to 500:1 can be used and will be effective at sanitising. Should you require a precise quat level (ppm), test with micro quat paper to ensure your diluted solution is correct.
Can I use Protect as a cleaner and a sanitiser?
Yes you can, but it's not made to clean. Protect is a specialty no-rinse sanitiser. It doesn't have cleaning agents in it so the cleaning results won't be as good as Cleansan. Cleaning agents will leave an unwanted residue if not rinsed and so that's why we don't put them in there.
Cleansan is designed to be a multi-purpose cleaner and a sanitiser for food areas and will be most effective for removing grease, grime, oils and food spills. A professional and hygienic food area will use both Protect and Cleansan as part of an effective cleaning plan. And for heavy-duty cleaning and degreasing, a lot of places will use our pro Foam instead of Cleansan.
When does Protect need to be rinsed from a surface?
If using Protect at the recommended dilutions you do not need to rinse the surface. If you choose to use Protect at a dilution stronger than 50:1 (more chemical, less water) you will need to rinse all surfaces with potable water to remove residues of the solution prior to commencing operations.
